It’s been over a year since my youngest daughter and I traveled to England—a trip that was truly unforgettable. It wasn’t just any visit; we went to attend my eldest daughter Leanne’s wedding, an event that felt like a scene out of a dream. The experience was magical, from the heartfelt ceremony to the intimate reception, and I still smile every time I think about it.

This journey marked many firsts for me: my first visit to Europe and our first long trip abroad as mother and daughter. Before this, the only stamp in my passport was from a quick trip to Hong Kong in 2018. Back then, Europe felt like a faraway fantasy—a place I never thought I’d see in person. But life has a way of surprising us, and here I was, not just visiting England but celebrating such a special milestone with my family.

The five days we spent in London were nothing short of magical. We stayed in a charming boutique hotel, where Leanne’s high school classmate worked, and thanks to her generosity, we enjoyed a fantastic discount on our accommodation. The hotel was tucked away on a quiet street but was close enough to the lively energy of the city. I remember waking up to the scent of fresh coffee from the café downstairs and the soft sounds of footsteps on cobblestone streets—a sensory memory that instantly takes me back.

London itself was a feast for the senses. From the iconic sights of Big Ben and the London Eye to the quieter corners of Hyde Park, everything felt like a postcard come to life. I can still picture the glow of the city lights reflecting on the River Thames during our evening walk, the crisp chill in the air mingling with the warm aroma of roasted chestnuts from street vendors.

But it wasn’t just London that captivated us. We also ventured out to the countryside, where the views were absolutely enchanting. Rolling hills dotted with sheep, quaint villages that looked like they were plucked straight from a storybook, and skies that seemed to stretch forever. It felt like stepping into another world—so peaceful, so serene.

Amidst all of this, I somehow managed to work on a few days during the trip. Balancing work and travel can be tricky, but I’m grateful for the flexibility it gave me to savor moments with my daughters while still staying productive.

Looking back, it’s not just the places we visited that made this trip so special. It’s the moments we shared: laughing over breakfast in the cozy hotel café, snapping endless photos with Leanne in her wedding dress, and sitting together on a park bench, simply soaking in the beauty around us. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come as a family and how precious these memories are.
