Entrepreneurship

Starting and running a business is hard. No sugarcoating it. Some days, you feel like you’re on top of the world, making things happen. Other days? You’re overwhelmed, exhausted, and questioning everything. And the worst part? That frustrating feeling that nothing is happening.

I know this feeling all too well.

Stepping Back and Going Back to the Drawing Board

When things start feeling heavy, I remind myself to step back and look at the bigger picture—something I like to call going back to the drawing board. Instead of drowning in the stress, I take a deep breath and reassess. What’s working? What’s not? Where do I need to make changes?

One big reality check for me recently was my financials. December was a tough month—I made the difficult decision to let go of a client who, quite frankly, wasn’t aligned with my goals. It was a long time coming, but I kept hoping things would work out. They didn’t. Instead, the owner made me feel invaluable and incomplete. And the cherry on top? They left without paying nearly $2,000, which I had planned to use to clear my credit card balance.

Lessons Learned (the Hard Way)

If there’s one thing I learned from this, it’s that I should never let a bad situation drag on just because I hope it will get better. Business isn’t about hope—it’s about action, alignment, and knowing when to cut ties. I should have walked away sooner instead of holding onto the false belief that things would magically change.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I also lost another client… to the person I outsourced the work to. Talk about betrayal. It’s disappointing to see dishonesty and ingratitude firsthand, but I also know that what goes around, comes around. Karma doesn’t miss.

But Here’s the Good News…

Despite all this, I hold onto one truth: God always provides.

Just when I thought I had lost so much, new opportunities came knocking. We now have three new clients, and I’ve already started training interns who will help handle tasks. We’re rebuilding, restructuring, and moving forward—because that’s what resilience looks like.

So even when it feels like nothing is happening… something is always happening.

Trusting the Process & Staying Grateful

I may not always see it in the moment, but I know that God is always brewing something good for us. He knows what we need, when we need it, and He removes people and situations that don’t serve us to make space for better things.

So today, I choose to trust.
To move forward.
To keep working hard while knowing that everything is falling into place—even when it doesn’t seem like it.

And most of all? I choose gratitude. 🙏🏼

To all my fellow freelancers out there, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, take a step back.
Reassess.
Let go of what no longer serves you.
And trust that something better is on its way. 💛

Would love to hear—have you ever let go of something (or someone) in business and later realized it was for the best?
